(WBAP/KLIF) — Over 40 guns were stolen from North Texas gun dealers in April. Metroplex firearms stores have been the target of break-ins over the past two weeks. According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, Republic Arsenal in Coppell, Elliot White Gun Company in North Richland Hills, and SK Arms in Flower Mound have had 42 guns stolen in April.
In each of the break-ins the suspects wore masks, hoods and gloves and left the scene in an older model red Ford Escape in at least two of the burglaries. According to ATF special agent Jeffrey Boshek, “every day that these stolen firearms remain on the streets…increases the chances of them being used in a violent crime,”
Five burglars stole nine guns from Elliot White Gun Company on April 13th. Republic Arsenal was broken into last Sunday where 18 guns were snatched along with ammunition. Five suspects also left the scene in a red Ford. 15 firearms were stolen on Monday from SK Arms by four individuals. According to the Dallas Morning News, a reward of up to $10,000 is being offered in the case.
