Greenville ISD Issues Apology Over ‘Staged’ Photo of a Teacher’s Foot on A Child’s Neck

Greenville, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – The Greenville ISD issued an apology after a staged photo of teachers foot on a students neck surfaces.

An apology letter has been sent to parents in the Greenville independent school district by Superintendent Demetrus Liggins, after initially alerting the district community that in an investigation was underway.

The photo was posted to social media, according to the school district. The boy’s family said the teacher texted the picture to the boy’s mom. He’s a student at Lamar Elementary.

The child’s mother told WFAA that the picture was a joke after her son was told to return an assignment or the teacher said she would put a foot on his neck.

The mom says she’s known the teacher for years, and feels there were no bad intentions. The boy’s father however, says that he is “mad” about the photo and that it should’ve never happened.

The teacher remains on administrative leave. It’s unclear whether or not the district plans to lodge “severe” disciplinary action as Superintendent Liggins suggested, in light of the new details. Liggins said that “stage or not, the  photo is highly disturbing.”
