DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas County health officials are monitoring what could be a slight bump in COVID19 cases following the Labor Day holiday.

Health and Human Services Director Dr. Phillip Huang says they are concerned more about needing to pay attention to trends following relaxation of some restrictions.

“These are what can cause these numbers to go up really quickly,” Huang said. “We have some concerning numbers in that we might have seen a slight bump from Labor Day but we’re monitoring it closely.”

Health officials had warned people not to do what led to a spike following Memorial Day. It is not believed anything like that was repeated following Labor Day.

“It’s so critical that everyone keeps doing the universal masking, still doing the physical distancing, the six-foot physical distancing, and washing hands,” Huang said.
