Glenn Heights City Leaders say Business Owner Directed Racial Slur at Customers

GLENN HEIGHTS (WBAP/KLIF) – Residents in a Dallas suburb are outraged after city leaders say a local business owner used a racial slur during an argument with a customer on Wednesday. Demonstrators quickly surrounded the store amid national outcry over racism in the United States.

According to Leonardo Allen, he was getting an oil change at Discount Auto Care in Glenn Heights and was confronted by the store owner after putting a napkin in the toilet.

“He started screaming at me and called me the N word,” Allen said.

Allen contends that the owner then told Allen and his mother to “go back to Africa.”

Hundreds of people gathered outside the business to send a message that racism won’t be tolerated. As employees and family members tried to exit the store parking lot demonstrators banged on the vehicle and appeared to pop one of its tires before the family managed to get away.

City Councilwoman Shaunte Allen said the owner admitted to her that he made the comments.

“When the owner came out he said he’s not racist but he said the N word in order to be degrading at that time,” Allen said.

Councilman Jeremy Woods says demonstrators will be outside the business all week to ensure the business doesn’t “make a dollar.”

Police were on scene to ensure things stayed peaceful.
