Miami, FL (AP) – A storm that appears to be headed for the U.S. Gulf Coast has regained tropical storm force after drenching southern Mexico and Central America. The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Cristobal’s maximum sustained winds have exceeded 45 mph, and it is moving north at 14 mph in the southern Gulf of Mexico. Cristobal crossed Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula Friday, and re-entered the southern Gulf of Mexico. The storm is centered about 400 miles south of the mouth of the Mississippi River. A tropical storm watch has been posted for the northern Gulf of Mexico coast from Intracoastal City, Louisiana, to the Alabama-Florida state line.
