North Texas Gyms Prepare for a Monday Reopening

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Gyms in Texas are preparing to reopen tomorrow under a list of guidelines from the state. It’s part of the Governor’s phased reopening plan.

Months have gone by since Texans could run by the gym after work for a quick lift or walk on the treadmill. But as of Monday the state will allow gyms to get back to business at 25% occupancy and with strict standards on cleanliness.
Chris Frater manages a Lifetime Fitness in Dallas and says safe practices are nothing new in a gym.
“We’ve always practiced good cleanliness standards,” said Frater. “It will just be enhanced.”
Gyms across Texas are bringing employees off furlough this weekend to begin training under new protocol. Under the state’s guidelines, social distancing is required, all machines are to be cleaned at every use, and locker rooms will stay closed.
