The official first quarter coronavirus death toll in Texas might be wrong

Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – There is some evidence that Texas’ reported coronavirus death toll in the first quarter could be an undercount. A USA Today network analysis found the state of Texas reported 41 confirmed COVID-19 deaths from January 1 to March 31, with the first victim dying on March 17. However, the analysis also says there was only limited testing available in February and early March, so it’s very possible some COVID-19 sufferers were misidentified as victims of influenza.
