Ill sailor airlifted off warship to Texas hospital

Washington (AP) – The U.S. Navy has airlifted at least one sailor from a warship at sea for treatment of COVID-19. the sailor was flown off the destroyer USS Kidd to a medical facility at San Antonio where he tested positive for the virus. The Kidd has been operating in the Pacific, off the coast of Central America. It is now returning to port with at least 18 sailors who have tested positive for the coronavirus. The Navy says the sailor who was evacuated from the KIdd “is already improving, and will self-isolate.” The Navy also says it expects confirmation that there are additional cases aboard the ship.
