Water and power will not be shutoff in Texas during the Covid-19 pandemic

Austin (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas’ Public Utilities Commission has put a hold on residential water and power shutoffs during the Covid-19 pandemic. Under the newly announced program customers may be able to avoid disconnects for up to six months. In addition, electric, water, and sewer providers also must suspend late fees. The new rule does not apply to telephone or internet service. It also does not apply to businesses. The commission issued its order as Texas recorded an unprecedented 155,000 new requests for unemployment benefits, and expects thousands more.
