DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF)- Uber Eats, Uber’s food delivery service, is helping local restaurants amid the Coronavirus outbreak.
Travis Considine with Uber Texas says since restaurants are closed for dining in, Uber Eats is helping to keep these businesses afloat in many ways. “We want to make it easy for people to help their community by supporting local restaurants, so we are waiving all delivery fees for all local independent restaurants..in the DFW Metroplex that’s hundreds of restaurants,” said Considine.
To help create a more immediate source of income, Uber is rolling out a new payment option for restaurants, allowing daily payouts for orders rather than the typical weekly billing cycle.
Considine said Uber is also having deliveries to be left on doorsteps, and ensuring all orders are sealed in tamper-evident packaging.
Uber has also announced it’s committing 300,000 free meals to first responders and healthcare workers in the U.S. and Canada.
