TAOS COUNTY, NM (WBAP/KLIF News) – A North Texas country singer had a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit and was speeding at 102 miles per hour in the September car accident that killed her and a 16-year-old girl in New Mexico, according the the Taos County Sheriff’s Department.
Officials said 30-year-old Kylie Rae Harris of Collin County lost control of her car, clipped the back of another before crashing into Maria Elena Cruz’ vehicle.
She was scheduled to perform at a Michael Hearne’s Big Barn Dance Music Festival in Taos that weekend.
The fatal accident was not the first time Harris had a brush with driving while intoxicated.
In 2017, she spent five days in jail after a drunk driving conviction in Allen.
