NORTH TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – Cities nationwide are taking time today to recognize the men and when who jump into action when disaster strikes.
October 28th is National First Responders Day.
First responders include police, fire, paramedics, dispatchers and those who work in emergency management.
According to NationalDay.com, Congress designated National First Responders Day in 2017.
Senators Elizabeth Warren and Tom Cotton, along with Representatives Mark Meadows, Michael Capuano and the late Elijah Cummings introduced the resolution.
Those who work in the industry assert the best way to support a first responder in any given city is for citizens to say thank you, help raise money for a department or volunteer.
Here in North Texas, numerous departments gave a shout out to their fellow first responders.
