FORT WORTH – WBAP/KLIF – Bank of America donated $50,000 Friday to the Fort Worth area non profit “Project Beloved”, which aims to help sex assault victims through the examination and law enforcement interviews they face following a complaint. The group’s goal is to change the conversation about sex assault and empower survivors.
Project Beloved is one of 13 recipients nationwide of this Bank of America Employee Grant. Employees are asked to consider how they can make lives better in their communities. Project Beloved was begun by Tracy Matheson in honor of her daughter Molly, a 2017 sex assault and murder victim.
The grant will be used to continue to create “beloved bundles” given to survivors of sex assault. They include a change of clothes and other comforting items. The group will also use the funds to continue creating “soft” interview rooms at police stations. Comfortable seating, pleasant lighting, art on the walls are rugs are hoped to help create a more comfortable atmosphere for victims to be interviewed in. Bedford Police Department is the latest location for Project Beloved’s latest created “soft room”.
Bank of America received more than 2800 nominations from employees when asked where money should be given to improve their communities.
