Detroit (WBAP/KLIF) – A United Auto Workers union Vice President in Detroit says negotiators are making progress on a new contract that could end the 19 day strike against General Motors. Terry Dittes says bargainers for both sides will work through the weekend, attempting to reach an agreement. He says wages, job security, skilled trades jobs, and pensions remain unsettled. The UAW strike began September 16, and shut down production throughout the U.S., including at the giant GM assembly plant in Arlington.
