DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Ezekiel Elliott wants to be a Dallas Cowboy for life.
“I love playing for the Dallas Cowboys, I love the organization, my teammates,” Elliott told Maxim magazine. “I do want to be a Cowboy for the rest of my life and hopefully that’s a possibility. But even Emmitt Smith, the greatest running back ever, ended up going to play a couple of years for another organization. So it’s just the nature of the game, but I want to be a Dallas Cowboy for as long as I can.”
The Maxim interview was recently published but conducted in July, before training camp started and before Elliott began holding out for a new contract commensurate with his achievments as the NFL’s top rusher in two of his first three seasons.
Elliott told Maxim his personal goals include winning the rushing title and being named All Pro each year but the bottom line for him will always be the team’s accomplishments.
“It all starts with the team, the ultimate goal, and that’s just to win a Super Bowl,” Elliott said. “I think every NFL team starts the season with that goal, and that’s the main objective, nothing comes before that. If you just focus on going out and trying to win games, all of the rest of the stuff, all the individual results, will come with that.”
