Richardson (WBAP/KLIF) – DPS says a motorist traveling westbound on the President George Bush Turnpike in Richardson this morning, abruptly made a U-turn near Midway and started driving the wrong-way causing a deadly head-on crash near Shiloh.
As to why the driver turned around, Lonny Haschel with DPS says:
“It’s early in the investigation so troopers will be working diligently to try to determine from the evidence as to why this happened.”
DPS’ Lonny Haschel says the accident happened around 2:30 this morning as highway patrol was investigating a DWI on the eastbound shoulder, when they were notified of wrong-way driver heading in their direction. Efforts to stop the wrong-way driver failed.
The driver of a Honda Civic hit a Ford Taurus head-on… both drivers died.
