MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF News) – Although Collin County residents led the state in early voting percentages, registered voters continue to head to the polls on Election Day.
This McKinney man said he showed up to vote as soon as the polls opened Tuesday, 7 a.m., because of the hotly contested Senate Race between Ted Cruz and Beto O’Rourke and the $750 million bond package that would mostly go toward funding highway construction.
“Obviously, we need some more infrastructure in this area as it’s expanding…Dallas is pushing northward,” he said.
Another woman at the same polling place echoed his sentiment and said the bond package was on the top of her priority list.
“Traffic around here is horrendous and with the growth of Collin County it’s really bad,” she said.
As with any election, some residents turned out not for a specific issue but because they feel it’s their civic duty.
“Because it shapes our government and out futures,” said one McKinney resident.
Even though half of all registered voters cast ballots during the early voting period, election officials are still anticipating a busy turnout.
Voting ends at 7 p.m.
