Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – A Fort Worth police officer who nearly died in an alleged ambush two years ago is expected to take testify against one of the accused today, according to the Star-Telegram.
Matt Pearce was shot five times during a chase in march of 2016 when Ed Russell McIver Sr. — who was wanted at the time — and his son, Ed Russell McIver Jr. were allegedly involved in a gun battle with officers after abandoning their SUV during a chase. the older McIver was killed in the shootout.
In 2016, the younger McIver was no-billed on attempted capital murder charges, but earlier this year, he was indicted for tampering with evidence, in connection with the shooting. He’s accused of hiding guns and keeping his father away from police on the day of the shooting.
Meantime, it took the Officer Pearce almost a year to recover and return to work with the police department.
