Sewage Spill Threatening White Rock Lake

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) –  A broken waste water pipe is raising concerns about sewage that could flow into White Rock Lake.

According to the North Texas Municipal Water District, a contractor bore through the pipe causing one million gallons of sewage to spill into White Rock Creek in Plano, about 12 miles from the lake.

“Any water that is in the creek with ultimately flow into White Rock Lake,” said Denise Hickey with the North Texas Municipal Water District.

Hickey said crews stopped the flow hours after the pipe broke and began cleaning the creek, but is unsure how much sewage will make into the lake.
