DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — The body that was found in a South Dallas creek over the weekend has been identified as the step-daughter of a doctor who was recently arrested for writing unnecessary prescriptions.

17-year-old Mikayla Mitchell was found floating in a creek late Sunday morning, with police saying she likely died from homicidal violence. Authorities have not confirmed her exact cause of death, however.

Mitchell is the step-daughter of Howard Diamond, who was arrested last week for allegedly running a pill mill operation out of his Sherman-based clinic.

His attorney posted on Twitter that there’s no connection between the two incidents, and that Diamond is devastated by his step-daughter’s death.
