WASHINGTON (AP) — Consumer sentiment fell sharply in April for the fourth straight month as the trade war has fueled worries about the health of the job market and inflation. The University of Michigan’s closely watched consumer sentiment index, released Friday, fell 11% to 50.8, the lowest since the depths of the pandemic. The decline was “pervasive and unanimous across age, income, education, geographic region, and political affiliation,” said Joanne Hsu, director of the survey.
