4 FEMA Employees Are Fired Over Payments To Reimburse New York City For Hotel Costs For Migrants

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Department of Homeland Security says four federal employees have been fired over payments to reimburse New York City for hotel costs for migrants. The workers are accused of circumventing leadership to make the transactions. Officials didn’t give details Tuesday on how the four violated policies. President Donald Trump’s aide Elon Musk said Monday his team had discovered payments used to house migrants in luxury hotels with money intended for disaster relief. Musk blasted the Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA’s acting head said employees would be held accountable. The payments appear to be part of a program that reimburses cities for costs of caring for migrants and have been standard for years.
