WBAP/KLIF EXCLUSIVE: North Texans say Venezuelan Migrants are Afforded Luxuries they aren’t

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Residents in a North Dallas neighborhood, near Dallas Parkway and President George Bush Turnpike, are concerned about fair treatment as a growing number of Venezuelan migrants move into nearby apartment complexes.

WBAP/KLIF News spoke with two Dallas natives who live in the area. They described an increased Police presence along a stretch of apartment complexes on Haverwood Lane.

“I see cops out here like every other day, just stationed out here watching,” one neighbor said.

“They do want they want to do, and the cops don’t do nothing to them,” another man insisted. “But when it comes to us, it’s a big problem.”

Long time residents in the neighborhood feel like the Venezuelan migrants are being afforded luxuries that some Americans are not accustomed to.

“It’s not frustrating,” a concerned resident said. “It’s just that we bust our tails and go to work. Do they go to work? It seems like everything is free. They’re good people but they seem to get away with things that we can’t get away with.”

Reaction to the Venezuelan presence in Far North Dallas comes as reports surface about the Venezuelan Tren De Aragua gang taking over an apartment complex in Colorado.

The Dallas Police Department confirmed to WBAP/KLIF earlier this month there has been gang activity in the North Dallas area linked to Tren De Aragua.

“DPD is working with other agencies to address crimes that could be linked to this gang, and others,” a department spokesperson said.

“I don’t feel any problems walking out at night or anything,” a neighbor, who didn’t want to be identified, said. “I don’t have any problems with the Venezuelans. The thing is, they do things we can’t do. They party until 5 a.m. and the Police don’t say nothing to them.”
