AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The Texas Department of Public Safety said its driver license offices are closed statewide due to a technical issue on Friday.
In a statement posted to X, the department said its technology teams are “working diligently on a fix, however, there is not current estimate on when offices will reopen.”
Customers affected by the closures should have been or will be notified, according to DPS.
Although the department did not say what the cause was, a Microsoft disruption, due to cyber security firm CrowdStrike, cased technological issues worldwide.
Microsoft told its customers it was working on issues affecting access to its 365 apps and other services.
The situation impacted airlines, banks, emergency services and other businesses. Fort Worth-based American Airlines said it was able to re-establish its operations as of 5 a.m.
DFW Airport is asking travelers to check the status of their flights as several carriers are experiencing significant cancellations and delays.
The FAA confirmed United Airlines, Delta and Allegiant flights were all grounded overnight and into the morning.
CrowdStrike said its in the process of rolling back the update that caused the glitch.
