DALLAS – (WBAP/KLIF) – You’re behind the wheel, and trying to remember when traffic got this bad. A new study suggests congestion has gotten worse in North Texas, and certainly, the Dallas Fort Worth metro, but comparitively speaking, it’s not bad at all.
A new study says Dallas drivers face 16% more congestion just since 2022. There’s eight million others alongside you waiting to get onto a North Texas highway, and then, waiting to get somewhere once on it. You may think it’s got to be better in other big city regions, but the newsflash is….Dallas driving is ranked 17th worse in the nation. Impressively, the ultra-notorious Austin traffic is an improvement as compared to Dallas driving; Austin, ranked 21rst worst nationwide. If the study is correct, it then offers you rights for serious griping.
Inrix is the company that did the study, just releasing it’s “Global Traffic Scorecard” for 2023, with some surprises: Houston drivers fare worse than us, coming in at 8th worst traffic congestion in the U.S.; San Antonio joins the top 25 worst traffic congestion in the nation; prior, long considered a somewhat sleepy town compared to Houston or DFW.
New York City predictably remains the number one worst place to drive nationwide, given delays and their costs, followed by Chicago, L.A., Boston, and Miami.
DFW’s traffic wasn’t as bad as other major U.S. cities, the data indicates it’s getting there: metro-wide, traffic congestion is up 12% since 2019, and up 16% since 2022 numbers emerged
