Arrest of Suspect in Hit and Run Death of Arlington Police Officer Darrin

(ARLINGTON) – WBAP/KLIF – A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the September 21, 2021 hit and run death of 24-year APD veteran officer Darrin McMichael. The officer was riding a motorcycle to work on Interstate 20 near St. Augustin Drive just after 6 in the morning.

McMichael struck the back of an SUV when traffic stopped suddenly. The crash caused him to fall off the motorcyle, and before he could get up, police say another vehicle ran over him and drove away. Officer McMichael died from his injuries at Baylor Medical Center.

Authorities say 26-year-old Joshua Quintaro Watson of Jackson Mississippi was arrested Wednesday with assistance of the U.S. Marshals Task Force. Watson is charged with a second-degree felony: accident involving death. His bond is set at $100,000; he’s held in the Dallas County Jail.

Multiple rewards were offered in the case seeking the suspect’s arrest.
