Today is the Last Day to Register to Vote in March 5 Primary Elections

NORTH TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The deadline is fast approaching for those who have yet to register to vote in the March 5 Texas primary elections.

Monday, February 5th, is the last day to sign up to weigh in on who advances in Democratic and Republican races for Texans running for office at the local, state and federal level.

Those offices include a U.S. Senate seat (Ted Cruz), 14 state senate seats, local judges and county offices, etc.

League of Women Voters Texas President Joyce LeBombard said Texas consistently has one of the lowest voter turnouts in the country in comparison to its population, and they’re trying to change that.

“The key is again for Texas is how do we get more voters to actually go vote and make sure that they feel that their vote counts,” she said.

In the March 5 primary election, the candidate who wins the majority of votes will face candidates from other parties in the November general election.

If no candidate gets a majority vote, the top two will face off in a May 28 primary runoff election.

Early voters can begin casting ballots on February 20th.

The last day counties can receive mail-in ballot requests in on February 23.
