Parkland Health Foundation Receives $600,000 Investment

The Parkland Health Foundation is working to bring awareness to the lack of access to contraceptive care in Texas.

They recently received a $600,000 investment from The Addy Foundation which will go towards supporting family planning services and education in the DFW area.

“We know right now that in Dallas County, the teen birth rate is fourteen percent higher than the overall rate in Texas, and sixty-three percent higher than the national rate,” President & CEO, Michael Horne, said.

He adds that they’re specifically focused on improving health equity for women with unintended pregnancies, and that despite the overturn of Roe v. Wade, they’re still doing their best to aid women in similar situations.

“It it paramount for us to ensure that we always operate within the law, and that we stay true to our mission in providing quality and compassionate healthcare to those who are most vulnerable,” Horne said. “Really this is about empowerment and choice.”
