LAKE WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – There have been two arrests in connection to what authorities are calling an “interstate commerce robbery ring” out of North Texas.
The group is accused of carrying out robberies at a Walgreens in Lake Worth and a Metro PCS in Fort Worth last month.
31-year-old Jhamal Antwan Farris is in the Tarrant County Jail on charges of Aggravated Robbery and was out on bond on a 2018 murder charge from the Everman Police Department.
35-year-old Henry Pierre Roberts is in Tarrant County Jail on charges of Aggravated Robbery and Felon in Possession of a Weapon.
Surveillance video from an October 15, 2023 heist at a a Walgreens on Lake Worth Boulevard shows the robber place a gun to the pharmacist’s head, while forcing her to remove controlled substances from a locked area.
A second suspect tazed a clerk while forcing her to the ground. Investigators said the pair stole about $5,000 cash from the store’s safe.
Shortly after the crime, Lake Worth Police Chief J.T. Monoushagian said the actions highlighted the nature of these criminals.
“Anytime we see suspects grabbing ahold of victims like this…placing guns directly to their heads…dragging them across the floor represents the severity and significance of this crime,” he said.
On October 30, 2023 the group robbed a Metro PCS on East Allen Street in Fort Worth. Police said one suspect walked into the store to scope out the location and left.
He was followed by a second armed man who ordered an employee to the back of the store. Then, a third suspect walked in and stole numerous electronics and $900 in cash.
During the robbery, a fourth suspect waited outside as a lookout. Investigators said they all left together.
The search continues 32-year-old Demond Deshun Scott of Grand Prairie and a fourth unidentified suspect.
The arrests were due to the work of a task force that includes Fort Worth and Lake Worth Police as well as the FBI.
“Violent crime has no place in Lake Worth. Alongside our partners, we will continue to relentlessly pursue those responsible for committing violent crimes in our communities.” said Lake Worth Police Chief J.T. Manoushagian. “I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the detectives and agents who worked this case, and I remain thankful for the partnership we have with the FBI and the Fort Worth Police Department.”
“Violent crime doesn’t stay within jurisdictions,” said Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes. “That’s why it’s important that we all work together. We are grateful for the partnership, hard work and dedication of the FBI and the Lake Worth Police Department for bringing violent assailants to justice.”
