What’s Open; What’s Not This Thanksgiving Day

DALLAS/FORT WORTH – (WBAP/KLIF)- Most stores and many restaurants are closed Thanksgiving day, but there are a few exceptions.

Open Nationally:

Big Lots, CVS, Kroger grocery stores, (including City Market and Food for Less and Kroger stores), and Whole Foods.

Closed Today:

Despite a reputation for Turkey Day deals, Target is closed this year, with annoucement in 2021 it would permanently shut down for the holiday. Costco and Walmart; both closed. Walgreen’s is closed today in a first for that chain nationwide. All local, state and federal offices are closed for business today, as is the U.S. Post Office and mail delivery.

The push to get an early jump on holiday gift shopping used to start mid-afternoon at the latest for gift hungry shoppers. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, many of these stores are closed. Additionally, increasing moves toward shopping online may make the early openings with the usual throngs increasingly obsolete. If you have a store or chain in mind you’d like to explore in person first, experts recommend you give them a call, or look online to determine when that business may open on Black Friday/the day after Thanksgiving.
