PILOT POINT (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Turmoil continues within the Pilot Point Independent School District.
The district announced that Superintendent Todd Southard resigned from his position this week in a statement Thursday night.
The development comes a week after police arrested district athletic trainer 35-year-old Javier Errisuriz on November 10 on charges related to having an improper relationship with a 17-year-old student.
The district fired Errisuriz on November 2 after an internal investigation and the Pilot Point ISD Police Department’s criminal investigation into the allegations.
Officials have not said whether the two incidents are related.
Following Southard’s resignation, the district’s board of trustees voted to move forward with plans to appoint an interim superintendent.
The district has yet to announce who will fill that position.
