DALLAS – (WBAP/KLIF) – A free holiday food distribution is scheduled Monday November 20th at the University of North Texas at Dallas. The event will run from 9 in the morning through noon, or until food runs out.
Each family can score up to 60 pounds of fresh groceries. No identification is needed, but participants will be asked to share their name, size of family and zip code.
The North Texas Food Bank is working with Tom Thumb/Albertson’s grocery stores and UT Dallas on this food giveaway. A recent report from the USDA reveals food insecurity in the U.S. is increasing dramatically. Texas now ranks as the second hungriest state in the nation, while Dallas County has the 4th-highest number of food-insecure children in the nation.
The holiday food distribution will take place at the UNT Dallas campus located at 7300 University Hills Blvd. in southern Dallas; again, from 9 a.m. to noon.
