Former Dallas Watch Seller Arrested in California

LOS ANGELES – (WBAP/KLIF) – A Beverly Hills businessman selling luxury watches – whose business began in Texas – is charged with wire fraud with officials alleging he duped customers out of 3 million dollars

Federal prosecutors say 35 year old Anthony Farrer started Gentleman Timepieces in Dallas back in 20-17. He was arrested at a Venice, California storage facility this week, the day after he was formally charged with federal offenses related to wire fraud.

The FBI alleges he conned customers in a Ponzi-like scheme from late last year through this summer – sending a watch instead of money owed, or at times, sending nothing at all despite the consignment sale of the piece.

Farrer opened a Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills location last year. Authorities allege he used the illicit gains to drive Lamborghinis and Ducati motorcycles and liked to gamble in Las Vegas.

Federal officials are still trying to identify victims. Arraignment is scheduled for December 14th; Farrer could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted on wire fraud charges.
