The World Series Has Food Banks in Texas & Arizona Battling

(WBAP/KLIF) — The Texas Rangers aren’t the only ones looking to deliver strikeouts during the World Series. The North Texas Food Bank (NTFB) and Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB) are on a mission to Strikeout Hunger in DFW.

The Fall Classic has sparked a friendly wager to combat hunger, as the two organizations are competing for bragging rights with St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix, Arizona. NTFB’s Trisha Cunningham has even gone so far as to challenge the St. Mary’s Food Bank CEO to a fund-raising competition to fight food insecurity. Cunningham says North Texans can help beat the Phoenix food bank by making donations in honor of the Texas Rangers at StrikeoutHungerNTX.org.

Cunningham says food insecurity is a serious problem in both metropolitan areas and the competition is a way to see who can raise the most funds to Strikeout Hunger. If NTFB loses, Cunningham will have to wear Arizona Diamondback’s gear, while a win means the CEO of the food bank in Phoenix will wear a Texas Rangers jersey. To help the North Texas Food Bank win the competition, donate at StrikeoutHungerNTX.org.
