NORTH TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Heavy rains lead to flash flooding in Tarrant County overnight and caused issues with traffic across the Metroplex Thursday morning.

In Haltom City, Little Fossil Creek flooded a neighborhood on Dana Street just north of Broadway.

Mike Forbes with our media partner WFAA TV was at the scene.

“I witnessed firefighters go in and bring out an elderly lady. A woman and a child were already out because the creek was right next to their home and was threatening to go inside.

In Fort Worth, two women were forced to wade through high water to get to safety after getting stranded in an SUV at Forest Park Boulevard and 5th Street.

The heavy rains also lead to numerous traffic backups across DFW. The situation had first responders reminding drivers about the dangers of slick roads.

“It takes less than an inch to hydroplane. It takes less than six inches to cause your car to stall out,” said Dallas Fire Rescue’s Jason Evans.

Meanwhile, MedStar said it responded to 28 moving vehicle accidents since the rain started Wednesday afternoon. 20 of those responses resulted in patients taken to nearby hospitals.

According to the National Weather Service, the area got around 5 inches of rain overnight.

More rain is in the forecast throughout the rest of the week.
