American Airlines Flight Attendants Picket Fort Worth Headquarters

(WBAP/KLIF) — The clock is ticking for American Airlines to avert a strike. Amid stalled contract talks with the airline’s flight attendants, union members picketed the company’s Fort Worth headquarters, Wednesday, to let executives hear their frustrations.

Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) Union President Julie Hedrick says both sides are quite far apart.

Close to a hundred flight attendants held signs and chanted in protest of the companies refusal to bring more than an 11% pay raise to the negotiating table.  That’s according to Hedrick, who also says they’re willing to go all the way. The APFA is asking for a 33% pay raise, citing the airline’s record-breaking second quarter revenue and say the union has set a deadline of November 17th to bring a proposal to the table. Otherwise they’ll start the process with the National Mediation Board to strike. American Airlines earned a record $14-billion in the second quarter of 2023.

American Airlines issued a statement to WBAP/KLIF News indicating optimism in reaching a deal, saying “We continue to meet regularly with APFA and are confident that we’ll reach an agreement American’s flight attendants have earned”.
