Train Derailment in Haslet Backs Up Monday Morning Traffic

HASLET (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A busy thoroughfare in Haslet has reopened after a train derailment caused an hours-long traffic delay Monday morning.

The City of Haslet said three empty cars went off track at Avondale-Haslet road around 6 a.m.

Officials said there were no hazardous materials on board and there was no danger to the public.

Northwest ISD school buses had to be rerouted due to the derailment.

About three hours after the initial incident, BNSF railway crews got the trains back on track and reopened the road.

At 6:00am there was a train derailment at Avondale-Haslet Road causing a road closure. Three empty cars derailed. There are no hazardous materials aboard, there is NO danger to the public. Avondale-Haslet Road is currently closed, and will be for several hours. Will update ASAP.

A train derailment at F.M. 156 and Avondale-Haslet Road will cause significant traffic delays this morning, as the accident is expected to take several hours to clear. Drivers should avoid this area, which is located near the 7-11 gas station.
