(WBAP/KLIF) – Preliminary reports indicated that at least four American citizens were killed in the attacks against Israel and an additional seven were missing and unaccounted for, according to a U.S. official. A spokesperson for the State Department later confirmed on Monday that at least 9 Americans are included in the death toll.
According to the Associated Press, the numbers could change as a fuller accounting is determined, according to the official. It’s believed the information originated out of initial reports received by the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem.
Many of the dead or missing Americans are reportedly dual U.S.-Israeli citizens.
