Video Surfaces of a High School Referee Ripping Off the Helmet of a Football Player

SEAGOVILLE – (WBAP/KLIF) – The University Interscholastic League is investigating an altercation that took place between a referee and a player at a high school football game on Friday night. During the Whitney vs Dallas Madison game, a player was ejected after a video was posted of an official taking off a players helmet during game play.

A video posted by Karla Haynes, who is the wife of athletic director and head coach David Haynes Jr, shows the referee ripping off a players helmet after bumping into him. In fact, her son is the player who was involved in the altercation. Another video posted by Dillion Hightower, who is the wide receiver coach for Whitney shows the incident from the opposite side.

The referee ejected the player from the game. On Saturday morning the UIL released a statement which confirmed that they are aware of the incident and are currently investigating the matter.

The UIL is aware of an incident involving a sports official and a student athlete during the Whitney vs. Dallas Madison varsity football game last night (Friday, 9/29). This situation is of great concern to us and we are actively looking into the matter.
