CARROLLTON (WBAP/KLIF) – The United Auto Workers Union strike is expanding, and North Texas auto workers are feeling the impacts.
The UAW strike is playing out at Stellantis plant in Carrollton, and GM Parts Distribution plant in Roanoke. The Carrollton plant distributes parts for Chrysler. Demonstrations were held this week outside of both plants.
“We get $500 a week for strike pay instead of our regular paycheck,” a plant worker said. “It kind of puts a damper in your pockets, but we knew it was coming. They told us to save up, and it’s here.”
UAW expanded the strike against Ford and GM on Friday. Negotiations with Stellantis are reportedly making progress.
