(WBAP/KLIF News ) – A telecom giant is relocating its headquarters to North Texas.
In a Wednesday morning press release, Frontier Communications said the move from Norwalk, Connecticut will bring more than 3,000 jobs to the Dallas area over the next decade.
The company said the relocation will establish Frontier as one of the largest publicly traded companies in the Dallas market.
Frontier CEO Nick Jeffrey said it makes sense for the company to make Dallas its new home base for Building Gigabit America.
“Moving our headquarters to Dallas makes good business sense given the city is already home to hundreds of our corporate employees and sits in the middle of one of our most important fiber markets. With a fast-growing economy and large, diverse pool of talent, Dallas is quickly becoming one of the nation’s top business cities. We’re proud to be part of it.”
Frontier is investing in a new 95,000 square foot office space, called “Gigahub” in Uptown.
The company also plans to spend about $1 million dollars a week to upgrade and improve its fiber-optic network in DFW.
Frontier joins fellow telecom giant AT&T which is also headquartered in downtown Dallas.
