Dallas Police Arrest Suspect in Oak Cliff Apartment Invasion Attempt, Shootout

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Dallas police made an arrest in connection to a shootout that broke out after two men accused of posing as a maintenance workers tried to force their way in to an Oak Cliff apartment.

The August 19th incident was captured on a doorbell camera of a unit at the Interlace Apartments on Gannon lane.

The victim, Ethan Rodriguez, said the man posing as a maintenance worker knocked on his door and claimed there was a work order.

Rodriguez said he told the man that no one was home through his doorbell camera and the worker walked away.

He said the situation escalated quickly when the fake employee came back with another man and they tried to kick in his door.

That’s when Rodriguez told police he started shooting to protect himself.

The suspect fired back but no one was injured.

A Crime Stoppers tip led to the arrest of 30-year-old Aaron Contreras. He’s charged with aggravated assault, deadly conduct and attempted burglary of a habitation.

Investigators have not said if the second suspect had been identified.
