(WBAP/KLIF) — Excessive Heat Warnings are expected to continue into next week, with temperatures hovering around 105 and heat index values eclipsing 115.
Experts are cautioning that the heat and humidity significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, especially while working or recreating outdoors. Although the most recent excessive heat warning runs through Friday night, more are expected through next week. The Texas heat is much different than what those from other states may experience, as the heat coupled with humidity creates a dangerous combination.
Safety concerns are mostly centered around those working or playing outdoors, with health officials encouraging residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay indoors, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
