Garland (WBAP/KLIF) – Garland firefighters worked through the early morning hours Monday to deal with an explosion and fire at the Sherwin – Williams paint factory at Forest Lane and Shiloh Road. The explosion was reported at 1:21 AM, and the first firefighters on the scene called a second alarm to ensure they had enough manpower to deal with what was then a raging fire. The fire was fully contained before dawn, but firefighters remained on the scene to deal with any hot spots that ,might flare up.
One Sherwin – Williams employee was injured, and treated at the scene. No firefighters were hurt. The cause of the explosion and fire is under investigation.
