(WBAP/KLIF) — Dallas Police released body-cam video of the sixth officer involved shooting of the year, Friday, in an effort to promote transparency.
For the sixth time this year, DPD officers were shot at before having to pull their guns and return fire. The latest incident occurred on Wednesday, when 41-year-old Clifford Osmer fired at police who were investigating a report of stolen property in a Pleasant Grove Motel room.
Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia says Osmer began shooting at officers as they entered the motel room and police returned fire, hitting the man and then provided immediate medical attention to the suspect, who remains in stable condition at a local hospital. Officers recovered a swath of stolen merchandise from the hotel room, which was the staging area for a burglary ring.
Deputy Chief Terrence Rhodes says that Osmer will be charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a public servant. No officers or bystanders were injured in the shooting.
