Large Grass Fire Forces Evacuations in Wise County

Wise County, (TX) – Fire crews in Wise County were kept busy with a large grass fire that broke out early Wednesday afternoon

What’s been dubbed the Boones Creek Fire forced the evacuation of residents in the Runaway Bay area near Hyde Cemetery along CR3701.around 2:30pm.

Crews attempted to get the blaze under control from the ground and in the air:

Officials declared the fire 50% contained around 6:30PM, and by 8:25PM residents in the recommended evacuation area were cleared to return to their homes. Patrols continued throughout the night to make sure containment lines held and residents were advised that they may see hotspots overnight.
