SUNNYVALE (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Sunnyvale police released new surveillance video showing the suspect who shot up a family’s car last month, killing a woman and injuring four others.
27-year-old Tyesha Merritt was killed, her brother and his three children were critically injured at the Riverstone Townhome Apartments at 201 Planters Road on the evening of June 4.
Chief Bill Vegas said the video shows the shooter getting out of a late model car.
“A newer model Toyota Camry mostly likely the upscale version. It’s got probably 19 – 20 inch wheels on it. It’s got dark windows. It’s black in color,” he said.
The video shows the injured brother running away from the victim’s vehicle. The suspect is described as a black man, more than six feet tall who is about 230 pounds.
Chief Vegas said the suspect’s attire may be a clue as to whether or not the victims knew their attacker.
“Our gut feeling is telling is this is definitely not random. The fact that he was wearing a mask is not usually indicative of something maybe road rage…but you never know,” he said.
A second video clip shows the suspect vehicle at the intersection of U.S. Highway 80 and Beltline Road on its way to the scene.
The Crime Stoppers reward has been increased to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest.
Anyone with information is asked to call North Texas Crime Stoppers at 1-877-373-8799.
