American Airlines Flight Attendants Will Vote to Authorize Strike

(WBAP/KLIF) — American Airlines may be facing another employee strike.

APFA President Julie Hedrick far right.

After the airline’s pilots union threatened to strike before getting a new tentative contract, now flight attendants are traveling the same path. After not receiving a pay raise for four and a half years, Association of Professional Flight Attendants President Julie Hedrick says they’re seeking approval from their 26,000 plus flight attendants to authorize a strike.

After contract talks have stalled on the issues of pay, insufficient staffing, and scheduling issues, Hedrick says enough is enough. The airline and APFA has been negotiating on a new contract since before the COVID pandemic. Hedrick says they’ve only agreed on about half of the 40 contract sections.

Flight attendants will vote between July 28th and August 29th on whether or not to approve a strike.
