(WBAP/KLIF) — Sales for cold treats are rising with the temperatures, as residents of the Metroplex are looking for ways to beat the heat, including visiting water parks, splash pads, and overcrowding shaved ice stands.
One of those businesses benefiting from increased snow cones sales is D&L Shaved Ice in South Dallas. Q.J. works at D&L and says he’s been spending a lot of time preparing ice for snow cones. Demand during the blistering Texas heat has more than doubled the amount of ice needed, topping 60 blocks a day. Q.J. isn’t complaining, as the increased sales have equated to a very nice bottom line.
The most popular snow cone flavors heading out the door are Tiger’s Blood, Blue Coconut, and Sour Apple. Q.J. has his personal favorite…Honey Dew Melon, which he says tastes like a blue cotton candy. D&L Shaved Ice is located at 3741 Malcolm X Blvd. in Dallas.
