Euless, TX (WBAP/KLIF) – A gas leak in Euless forced the evacuation of over two dozen homes overnight.
Euless Fire Assistant Chief Mark Williams says the call came in around 1 a.m. about the rupture of a 6-inch high pressure line at South Main Street and South Pipeline.
Williams says the neighborhood at the corner of South Pipeline and South Main was evacuated. The evacuation involved 25 homes and 96 residents who were evacuated to Cross Life and Hope Church, where the Red Cross assisted with the residents needs.
the leak was stopped by atmos around 4:45 this morning and residents were permitted to return to their home. Chief Williams does not know what caused the leak. He told the WBAP/KLIF newsroom that Atmos may do a follow-up investigation.
Meantime, according to a tweet from Mike Forbes with our media partner WFAA-TV, the line ruptured when ground around this large hole collapsed.
